Satisfy one criterion:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in internal audit or a related field
Without a degree: 5 years of verified internal audit experience

To receive the CIA certification, applicants need to:

Complete all three parts
Gain the required practical experience based on eligibility

Part 1

This covers the foundational principles of internal auditing, This part takes 3 months to complete with an on-demand exam consisting of 125 MCQs.

Part 2

This will help you perform audits & this part takes 4 months to complete with an on-demand exam consisting of 100 MCQs.

Part 3

This helps with the Broader business knowledge & this part takes 5 months to complete with an on-demand exam consisting of 100 MCQs.

No the CIA exam parts can be taken in any order your wish.

What happens if I don’t pass my CIA exam on the first attempt?

If you don’t pass an exam, you can retake it. Once your official results are released, you can schedule another attempt, provided your new exam date is at least 90 days after your previous attempt. There is no limit to the number of times you can retake a CIA exam.
