To join the qualification as an ACCA student and begin your studies, you must meet the ACCA minimum entry requirements. These requirements vary depending on the country in which you have completed your secondary education.

However, for those who do not meet the minimum entry requirements, you are still able to begin your studies as a Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) student. The FIA route is open to everyone. The requirement to transfer from an FIA student to an ACCA student is that you must first pass the three Applied Knowledge papers before continuing with the Applied Skills level papers of the ACCA qualification.
Finally, if you are a University graduate with a relevant degree or hold part/full completion of other relevant accounting or finance qualifications then you may be eligible to claim up to 9 exemptions from the ACCA qualification. In order to achieve the ACCA Qualification, students have to:
- complete a total of 13 exams, depending on prior experience and qualifications
- complete an Ethics and Professional Skills module
- evidence three years of practical work experience within a relevant role.
This means that students can complete the ACCA Qualification in a minimum of three years.

There are a total of 15 ACCA examinations of which up to a maximum of 13 must be completed. Students are required to complete only 2 out of the 4 Strategic Professional Option papers.

ACCA and Oxford Brookes University have come together to design a degree programme that is exclusive to ACCA students. This degree can be studied alongside the ACCA qualification enabling successful graduates to come away with both a degree and a professional qualification.
